Týn nad Vlatavou the small Czech city along the river Vltava hosted already the 21st race so it is one of the most traditional places where the quadrathletes can meet and race. The organiser Jiří Kobera with his team and the local Jiskra Kayak Club as always did a great work. It was not easy this year because of the rebuilding works of the bridge on Vltava a provisional bridge is built up on the place where the race centre and depo was in previous years. So this time everything was relocated to the Kayak Club and the bike and running courses were changed as well. The most challenging part was the new bike course because the first 500 meters were on cube stones surface. As there were 3 laps everybody has to pass this part 6 times.
The sprint distance race started at noon, with athletes – besides home country – from Poland, Hungary, Germany and for first time from Turkey. Besides experienced athletes there were several Youngs who performed their first quadrathlon race. As expected the race was dominated by experienced quadrathletes but some triathletes did a great achievement as well. Eg. the men’s race was led by Patrik Minář until the mid of bike session and the women’s race was led by Lída Pavelková after the swimming.
The after race “party” as usual was extraordinary. Several types of food and drink was served to the participants and accompanying persons, and also the Czech beer could be tasted. Thanks to the sponsors podium winners received lots of presents.
The next race is organised in Bydgoszcz, Poland on 9th July on sprint distance.
